I cut my profiles by hand most of the time, but a vertical mill and a lathe assist me in duplicating
complex shapes when necessary. The engraving is done by hand using one of two GraverMeisters that I have
had for 20 years. I was schooled a bit by Wayne Potts when he was alive, his son Jerry has since filled the gap since Wayne's death. I perform my own anodizing of Aluminum, Niobium, and Titanium to make much of my knife jewelry. I often profile "full pierced" handles to allow a single semi-precious stone to be visible from both sides.
These are usuallay translucent and pass light to enhance the beauty of the stone. Look on later pages for examples.

I have been a knifemaker for over 50 years. The old blacksmith that taught me to make a blade of layered steel, and what he called conglomerate. Neither of us had ever heard the word damascus. I eventually became good enough to attempt folding knives. I eventually tried an art knife, and decided that if a collector wanted custom knives, that it should also be functional, so I try to never make a knife that cannot be used. Custom knives can also be used as a self protection tool as a defensive weapon. I may never be the best bladesmith out there, but I always carry a pocket knife in each pocket. Backpacking, hiking, and camping have been my most enjoyed hobbies, and I test many knife types myself before offering them to others.
