I make my own Mosaic Pins, inlays, and screws generally.
Most of my "High Polish" finishes are done by hand with lapidary diamond solutions with a felt pad. I use
grits from 100 mesh all the way to 100,000 mesh to get a "Show Shine" on many of my higher end
knives. They are sanded up to a 2000 grit by hand before polishing, then are hand finished  instead of simply polishing them on a buffing wheel. Often buffing wheels leave uneven surfaces that can be seen from oblique angles. Hand finishing takes a considerable period of time though, so some of the more simple knives are, of course, given a buffed finish, or even a ground finish of 400 grit.

I live and work in the state of Colorado. Hunting here is controlled by the Colorado Division of Woldlife ( DOW ) located near Denver Colorado. I primarily hunt and fish for all my meats, I was told by a doctor 10 years ago that the wild game instead of processed meats in my diet is wahat saved my life. There are no additives, less fat, and I process my own meat from ALL animals.
I taught myself scrimshaw, since I was a natural artist and was schooled in engraving by Wayne Potts back a number of years ago while developing my early folding knives. I have made some form of edged tools since 1956, and I studied tool and die making in the early 1970's. That alone has helped me in making custom knives more than anything else. Having been a knifemaker for more than 50 years, making a custom handmade knife, an art knife, or even a miniature knife still requires all the skills I developed from all the preceeding years.  I was hand hammering    ( WHAT IS NOW CALLED ) damascus type steels in the 1950's ... They wern't the exotic patterns you see nowdays, nonetheless they WERE functional. Bladesmithing was a natural route for me, but I never joined any of the professional "rich boy" organizations to get a certification for something I was doing 30 years before most of them ever conceived of the idea. Survival for me has been a long uphill road, Moved into making mokume a few years ago, and now utilize my own versions of it for knife jewelry. It's actually tougher to make than many versions of damascus. Since there has been virtually no work available for the past two years, I have dedicated my time designing and crafting custom handmade knives. Contact me at either knifeinfo@reddknives.com or unlimited_design@msn.com to work with me in designing your own custom knife. I have made over 2000 knives to date.
