The daggers shown are but a few of the many I have in progress. I usually incorporate filework, scrimshaw on bone handles, and engraving as the design allows in my daggers. Custom scrimshaw can be quoted if so desired. I generally utilize one of several high carbon steels for the fabrication of this type knife. I do not stock stainless steels of the thicknesses required for larger knives. Guard and butt caps can be made from almost any requested material in a custom fabricated design. Generally, any balancing I perform for a knife of this type is for use in the hand of the user. Throwing knives use a weight forward design due to the nature of the beast.

I make a few knives in dagger style. In the larger versions I generally use a bone or elk antler scale for durability. Deer antler is generally not quite as good a choice except for smaller profiles. If a lanyard hole is desired, it has to be specified by the client. I use 1095 steel, O-1, and D-2 steels for most daggers unless a specialty steel is desired. These allow hamon pattern edge hardening. The bone allows scrimshaw to be incorporated in the design. A mosaic pin can be custom designed and incorporated in scale handles. ( not in pull-on or take down styles ) I use a multitude of guard materials for a knife of this type. A smaller version of a handcrafted knife may have other handle materials such as bocote, briar, or buffalo horn.
