Making Knives Since 1956

Knives Currently Available
I have probably made some variation of most every type of common knife out there.
I DO get accused of making some REALLY WIERD looking knives ... but that's half the fun,
LET THE STEEL BECOME THE KNIFE
Collector's enjoy my unique approach to my designs, scarcly two knives alike ... though some are similar.
The ART in knifemaking is to design one's creative abilities into the presentation of the piece, but I have NEVER set out to make a knife that simply could not be used ("Artknife"). If it can't be used, it's a wallhanger.

Note About Antique Ivory
I only utilize very OLD Ivory, that comes from broken pieces that were decorations on items under restoration many years ago.
Generally these were broken pieces that had to be removed to allow complete restoration of the antique item being restored.
As white bone was used to facilitate restoration,
I began collecting the "scraps" I have, in the
60's , when my mother was restoring antique furniture.
I commonly will use scraps to make mosaic inlays as required. Very few pieces are large enough for large scrimshaw, I usually substitute Bone from various sources in the handles of knives that are meant for scrimshaw of any size image.
Any new purchases of Ivory for a Custom knife will be fossilized ivory that is millions of years in age, such as Mastodon, or Fossilized Walrus.
I attempt to not offend anyone by using any "modern" or "poached" ivories.Every piece I utilize is in excess of a minimum 100 years of age.

I have made cutlery types, hunting, fishing, and survival types. A fine handmade knife is a treasure to many, a pocket knife can also be an art knife to a collector, I have seen many that demonstrate the dedication of bladesmithing in the form of a miniature knife. It takes many years of dedication to bladesmithing to develop a damascus blade on a forge that is both beautiful and functional. Bowie patterns are most often the profile of choice, but survival knives also benefit from the forged blade. If a knife is of bone or ivory scale construction, often the maker will scrimshaw a pattern that is unique to either a style, or the personality of the owner, making it a work of art in that owner's eyes as well.
