I utilize a lot of semi-precious stones in my handles. I have a pretty good supply of Lapidary equipment that allows
me to cut, profile and polish almost any stone that can be worked. I am using Titanium more often in many of my knives
for additional strength, durability, and beauty after Anodizing as well as reduced weight ( I get complaints about heavy knives occasionally ) Titanium is more difficult to machine than almost all other materials used, and requires tougher, more expensive tools, and requires a considerable increase in time to shape and finish, so don't be alarmed about the increase in cost of the finished piece. A custom made knife with Titanium can often double in price and value.

Dropped point types appear to have the edge on hunter knives for the majority of my clients. I can utilize nickel or titanium bolster designs in these knives with bone scales with antique ivory inlay to allow scrimshaw to be incorporated. The Reddknives site has several knives with nickel bolsters with niobium inlay with hand painted art performed by anodizing very tiny areas on the niobium surface. Damascus can be incorporated into the bolster and butt cap of many knives to enhance the beauty of the knife. I have an assortment of stone handled knives, as well as stone inlayed knives. I finally decided in the past few years to incorporate an electro-etched logo with my name ( Bill Redd ) as the maker. All knives prior to 2008 were hand signed WVR as one engraved line... The actual brand on my father's cattle when I was growing up. Page thru the Reddknives site and look at the enlargements to see many earlier samples.
