ReddKnives Samples

I've made knives from a multitude of tool steels most of my life.
Quite a few are made from "mystery Metals" ... IE John Deer Head Bolt studs, Farmall Cotton picker spindles, Front wheel drive axles of Japanese automobiles. All of these, properly forged and heat treated, make excellent knives. These have to be tested during the forging process to assure good quality in the finished product.
Most carbon steel blades and Damascus are forged, then ground. the stainless varieties are generally
stock removal. My favorite stainless are ATS-34 and 440C, carbon steels fall in the
O1, 1095, L6, W1 - W2, D2, A2, or similar varieties.
I make my own MOKUME for bolsters and knife jewelry, as well as mosaic pins and screws.
most knives have exotic handle materials, and often TITANIUM bolsters or scales with jewel grade stone inlays.

I make knives of 1095, 440-C, ATS-34, O-1, and D-2 steels most of the time. Some survival knives and edged weapon types for hand combat are excellent for protection, I make them all. There is nothing more satisfying than a Handcrafted knife in my mind. I am Bill Redd, and I own Reddknives, I originally used the name Reddman, but a tobacco company had a problem with that name.
I use exotic materials such as Anodized titanium, bone scales, abalone inlay in the typical custom handmade knife. In subsequent pages I will list many more.
